Most of our meetings will be held the 3rd Saturday of each month. They are held at the First Presbyterian Church Girl Scout house, 6th. St. N.W., Winter Haven, FL.
Hello, my name is Karyn Spencer. I am a parent of a child with Down syndrome. My husband and I have a great love for children with special needs. Over three years ago, several families were interested in starting a support group here in Polk County. So, with the support from the Down Syndrome Association of Central Florida, our group was born. Now that we have grown, and with the help of other members, we have created our own non-profit organization.
We also send out a group newsletter via email around the 5th of each month.
During group meetings we intend to have professional speakers talk with us, have different organizations give us information to resources that we may not know about, and obviously create an atmosphere where all families feel welcomed and apart of something great! We look forward to meeting new families, and hope you will pass this information on to other family members or friends you think might be interested in attending… Our goal is to create an atmosphere where we can share ideas, information, and similar experiences through our children.
