Down Syndrome Association of Polk County
Hello, my name is Karyn Spencer. I am a parent of a child with Down syndrome. My husband and I have a great love for children with special needs. With support from the Down Syndrome Association of Central Florida, several families have shown interest in starting up a support group here in Polk County.
As our group begins to grow, we have decided to have a meeting on the 3rd. Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm, in Lakeland, at the First Baptist Church of Highland City. However, please note, some meetings may be replaced by other events. Please feel free to email me at ckspencer@comast.net with any questions, or check for updates on the website at www.dsapolk.org. In addition, something new we are starting is a newsletter that will go out via email by the 5th of each month.
During group meetings we intend to have professional speakers talk with us, have different organizations give us information to resources that we may not know about, and obviously create an atmosphere where all families feel welcomed and apart of something great! We look forward to meeting new families, and hope you will pass this information on to other family members or friends you think might be interested in attending… Our goal is to create an atmosphere where we can share ideas, information, and similar experiences through our children.
